Terry Lamb

Hello, I’m Terry Lamb. My journey into spiritual direction and ministry has been anything but straightforward, yet every step has been crucial in shaping who I am today....

Trained under the bishop of the Anglican Diocese in New England, my approach to spiritual direction is deeply influenced by Teresa of Avila and her groundbreaking work, Interior Castles.

For over 35 years, I’ve served in various pastoral roles, from the Senior Pastor at the Abbotsford Vineyard and initiating the Love Your City movement to supporting fellow pastors across western Canada. My wife, Ruth, has been my rock, supporting and influencing my journey every step of the way.

Outside the formal roles, I'm just as passionate about learning and growing. Whether it's practicing Ju-Jitsu or working my peach farm in British Columbia, I'm constantly in the role of student. I find joy in the simple acts of living and the constant process of discovery. Yet, it was my transition to Anglicanism in my late 50s that opened a new chapter in my spiritual journey, helping me to embrace the depth and tradition offered by the Anglican Church and its sacred Eucharist.

Beyond these roles and experiences lies my core impulse: to create safe spaces for confession, change, and meaningful spiritual exploration. You see, I’ve experienced deep disappointment. I know how it seeps into every aspect of life, refusing to stay compartmentalized. Following the path from Vineyard church pastor to Anglican priest to farmer, I’ve experienced the liberty that comes when we end the fixation with behavior and begin to live as one who truly belongs.

To me, true spirituality invites us to break free from the constraining systems that aim to keep us in compliance. I’ve seen firsthand how our beliefs about God and ourselves can create barriers to growth and lead to frustration, anxiety, and impatience. But I also believe deeply that we’re not meant to navigate this journey alone.

I believe in the gift of coaching, not just in martial arts but in life and faith. I am passionate about helping others to see their perceived deficiencies as gifts and to envision a life beyond their current constraints. My heart’s desire is to guide others through their spiritual journey, offering a compassionate ear and a steady hand as we explore the depths of faith together.

Testimonials

"Terry has been a tremendous blessing in my life. His listening skills are profound, for he listens with the heart of Scripture in his mind. In difficult times, Terry empathizes like no one else, gently taking you to the Scriptures and the wisdom of the Christian past to speak into your life where needed. His non-judgmental attitude does not mean he is shy to let you know what he thinks is best for you. In short, relying and waiting upon the Spirit, Terry displays the maturity and wisdom of a true spiritual healer."
